What to do if you suspect you’re a victim of a cyber scam
I think I’ve received a fake email, How can I tell if it’s a scam or not?
Cybercriminals target consumers through fake emails pretending to be McAfee. Their goal is to get you to reveal personal information like your credit card details, date of birth etc.
How to spot a scam email:
- They usually include spelling and grammar mistakes.
- They contain suspicious links or attachments.
- Sent from different email domains. (Legitimate McAfee emails always end in ".mcafee.com")
- If a generic address was used, such as hotmail.com or gmail.com, the email might be a scam. Forward spam or phishing emails to scam@mcafee.com
- If you have doubts that the emails were sent by McAfee, verify the domain name.
- If you receive emails from any other domain (other than mcafee.com), delete the email.
