Savage, Prior Lake ends SRO’s

Cities of Prior Lake and Savage, will regularly patrol Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools but will not work directly under contract with the school district.
According to a press release from the city of Prior Lake, the change in the law specifically references how contracted student resource officers approach students who are a threat or look to cause harm. The interpretation of the law is being debated throughout the state, but ultimately removes the current standard of authority law enforcement officers have as contracted student resource officers.
