Press Release: SRO Position, City of Hawley.

With a recent law enacted by the Minnesota State Legislature, there is now some confusion and vagueness on how School Resource Officer’s (SRO’s) are able to do their duties in the school settings, in certain situations.

After very lengthy conversations between the City and the School District, an administrative decision has been made to suspend the SRO contracts, until further notice, with the Hawley School District and Lake Agassiz Educational Coop. Our SRO will be assigned to patrol duties and will be able to provide resources to school staff and respond to incidents as they arise in our school buildings.
