Last night we had a significant amount of property crime in our area as well as Minnetrista. We are still working on numbers, but so far we believe to have had six occupied residential burglaries and a handful of theft from auto reports. This means while you were sleeping people were creeping through six homes. We don't want that, but we need your help to make that more difficult.
We share this info in the hope that readers will spread the news that if you secure your home, vehicles and other personal belongings you are at a greatly reduced likelihood of being victimized. Yes, you are correct, you shouldn't have to do so, but....
Surprisingly we have had no vehicles stolen and we have not located any stolen vehicles which is abnormal in this situation.
Methods of entry are unlocked homes and vehicles. Garage door openers are located in unlocked vehicles and the suspect(s) make entry through the garage. Lock your vehicles, lock your residential doors and then also lock your garage access doors. Many people forget or assume the garage is secure so no need to lock access doors from the garage to the home, which is wrong. We enjoy tracking down your suspect's, but that means you have been victimized and we don't want that. Secure your belongings.
