Friday night, 26 April 2024 the Coon Rapids Police Department was dispatched to the Emma B. Howe YMCA on a report of gunshots. Officers arrived on scene to find one person struck by gunfire. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Currently, their condition is unknown.

Coon Rapids Police do not believe the shooting was random.

Update on Incident at Emma B. Howe YMCA

[COON RAPIDS, MN, April 27, 2024] On Friday, April 26, at approximately 7:58 p.m., the Coon Rapids
Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Emma B. Howe YMCA, located at 8950
Springbrook Dr. NW.

A person outside of the YMCA had fired shots into the building, striking one victim.

Police do not believe the shooting was random; it appears to be part of an ongoing conflict.
The victim is a 16-year-old male. He is being treated at a local hospital and is expected to survive the
injuries.

Coon Rapids Police continue to investigate and are following up on several leads. Anyone with
