If someone calls you and says your family is in jail, in an accident etc. PLEASE hang up and call that family member directly! Do not fall for the scam!

The victim advised that $20K had been stolen from him. He and his wife reported that around 10 on 12/02 they received a phone call from a person claiming to be his brother. He stated he had been arrested following a significant vehicle collision and requested his brother speak with his
attorney. He was then transferred to a male using the name Joseph Nixon who was an attorney handling the arrest. The attorney requested the victim obtain $20K which would be used to bail the brother out of jail. The victims went to their bank and withdrew $20K. They returned home and
Nixon assisted in arranging for a "Federal Courier" to respond to their home to collect the money so that it could be delivered to "Midwest Bail Bonds". The victim reported that around 2:30 PM a person arrived at his home to collect the cash. The male left the location with the money in a newer white
midsize SUV which had been parked on the roadway in front of their home and out of their view. He was described as a tall Hispanic male with a thin build, dark hair, black jacket, and approximately 30 years old.
