The victim received a text message asking him if he approved a transaction. The victim replied no to the message. A short time later, he received a phone call from a male who identified himself as "Michael Freeman" claiming he was with Wells Fargo fraud department. He instructed the victim to
withdraw his money and deposit it into a new account to prevent further fraud. He followed these instructions and withdrew $20K in cash at the Wells Fargo bank in Blaine. He was then given an unknown card number to enter into his apple wallet. He was then instructed to deposit the cash into
the ATM outside of the bank and put the money on the card that was entered into his apple wallet. He was instructed to do this same exact thing again at the Spring Lake Park Wells Fargo. The victim followed through with the same instructions and deposited $10K to this account. He also was told to mail $10K in cash to "Chris Doe" with the address in Florida. At the time of the call, the victim was attempting to get UPS to stop the delivery. The victim is out $40,000. He contacted Wells Fargo and was advised that because the deposit happened at an ATM that was outside of the bank, they would not be able to start an investigation and was advised to contact law enforcement.
