If you get a call from your said bank, hang up and call your bank directly. AND do NOT ever verify your info with anyone who CALLS you!

Posing as a Wells Fargo rep: The victim reported that around 6 P.M. on Feb 1 he received a call from Wells Fargo informing him that his card had been compromised and someone unknown person was trying to use it in Texas to purchase a TV. The victim told me that he was speaking with a female who claimed she was with customer service at Wells Fargo. Mason stated that the female was verifying his information and asking questions about his name and social security number. She had all his information and he confirmed with her that his information was correct. The victim reported that while he was speaking with her, he received a text on his cell phone stating that his loan through.

Money Lion Bank had been approved. The victim questioned the female who told him that this was part of the process. The victim then received another text from SunTrust with a temporary PIN. The victim then tried to access his bank account but was unable to. The victim was told by the female that he would be unable to access his account due to a hard reset of his account. At this time, he was suspicious of this phone call and hung up on the female. The victim immediately contacted Wells Fargo and learned that no one from Wells Fargo had tried to reach out to him. The victim then had his bank account closed by Wells Fargo, however, 3 payments of $32.99 to InstaCash were taken out of his checking account.
