Montana fake warrant

Officer was dispatched to a phone call regarding a fraud complaint. Officer called and spoke to the reporting party. He believed that he and his wife were possibly the targets of scam by an unknown person. He stated that an unknown person claiming to be with law enforcement from the state of Montana was claiming that his wife, had an active warrant from there. The male stated that to prevent her from being arrested she could pay $3,000 to take care of the warrant. I advised him that prior to me calling him dispatch had already run his wife’s information and there were no active warrants for her. I advised the RP that this was a scam and that they should stop answering the phone if they don't recognize the number calling. Clear with no further actions taken.
